The most fascinating thing about the work, is the travelling it entitles you. I’ve seen places most people, young or old, only dream of seeing. I’ve become very independent, and this experience made me a grown up!

Yes, the work is hard, people are rude, hours are long, sleep is a luxury, especially if you’re interested in sightseeing. You are employed, you have living quarters and you get paid, that’s as far as company involvement goes! If you’re not working, your time is your own. You are free to do as you please if your working day is done, as long as you respect the fact that you are in a foreign country – WHEN IN ROME, DO AS THE ROMANS – You are thus an ambassador for South Africa, do your country proud. North American Midway Entertainment is a respectable company, as they strive to amuse America, wherever you may go, your duties always include the same – treat customers with respect, and give them a day at the fair they will never forget. I quote a friend from the Astro Unit –
“To you it might be just another day of work, but to at least one family it’s an amazing experience, one they might not have again” – Sarge
I am so pleased with the experience I had, that I am going back in 2012. It has become part of who I am. I have made so many lifelong friends, gained respect for so many people. I am proud to say I am a true South-Afri-CARNIE !!!
